JetBlue is preparing to make an offer for Spirit Airlines. This comes just weeks after a proposed merger between Spirit and Frontier Airlines was announced.

In my opinion the B6 acquisition is better for the customer than the NK/F9 merger, because if JetBlue acquires Spirit then the Sprit name, brand and operating model will disappear from the skies forever and that will be a good thing.

I just downloaded the flight board app (pro version) and added a few American airports (EWR, JFK and LAX), besides my two home airports (CGH and GRU) and FOR.

It shows also code-shares. I’ve found out B6 is code-sharing JFK-LAX with HA. It’ll probably be good (the merger) for HA.

Also noticed minutes ago an interesting flight PIK (Glasgow) to LAX, a Cargolux flight. I didn’t know PIK is a good stopover between Europe going to west of U.S.

Spirit has rejected JetBlue's offer and will pursue a merger with Frontier. However, a Frontier/Spirit merger would be far more likely to be rejected by U.S. government authorities on anti-trust grounds than an acquisition by JetBlue. Now that JetBlue seems to be out of the running, it would seem most likely that Spirit will continue to operate as is for the time being, until they find a merger or acquisition that passes muster with the authorities.

So, basically Spirit is trying to compete with JetBlue:

By merging with Frontier, they wouldn’t create something “big”.
Like you said, Mabel, crap and crappier.

JetBlue is superior, indeed!
Spirit board of directors has denied facts!
